Compassionate living.
It's been a couple of months since I've really ridden on any form of MBTA transportation. I went into Boston yesterday for a job interview and rode the redline in and out from Quincy Adams. I took a train out from Park Street at around 4pm. It was packed with people trying to get home. But no one was talking about their day, no one was talking about their weekends. Everyone had earphones in staring begrudgingly at someone else. Everyone was listening to music. Now I do this too, my Ipod is one of my best friends, I take it with me everywhere. But it was mildly upsetting that not two people were conversing with each other. I know its the Redline, but I figure at least two people can talk briefly about the past election, or how shitty their boss is. Bottom line, there is a lot of impersonality there. There is a lot to be said for that, and the lack of compassion you see from people everyday.
